Diyavini Ella Falls

Located in a jungle 8km east of Balangoda and south of Vikiliya, the Diyavini Ella (Diyawini Ella) waterfall stands tall at 60 meters high and is part of a tributary that flows into the Walawe River, along with another stream created by the Diyavini River. The area is also home to the Devagiri Vihare temple, which is worth a visit, and an ancient Dagoba that is now overgrown by the jungle. Local folklore has it that a treasure trove is buried in the vicinity, and that a village head disappeared while searching for it. Additionally, they believe that Brahmin scripts are inscribed in caves and that three stone vessels, each 3 meters deep, can be found here.

To reach the fall, take the Balangoda-Weligapola road to Kapugala road and head towards the ancient village of Diyavini, where the fall is located near the old Rajamaha Vihare temple.
