Uran Wetuna Ella Falls

Uran Wetuna Falls is an impressive waterfall standing at 108m tall. Its name originates from the abundance of wild boars in the vicinity that frequent the area to drink water, and sometimes get carried away by the strong currents. The river flows onto a rocky shelf, creating a three-tiered waterfall. Downstream, the river passes another waterfall called Kottun, before merging with the Kalu Ganga River.

Despite severe droughts, the Uran Wetuna Ella waterfall never dries up and provides water to the nearby Kiribathgala State Plantations and hospitals. The lush surroundings of the falls boast a diverse range of trees and medicinal plants.

The waterfall flows from the Mirishena Mukalana (Mirishena Jungle) and is located on Pettiyagala Mountain, in the Ratnapura District. It falls within the Openayake Divisional Secretariat, delineating the Kandeketiya and Palekande Gramasevaka areas.
