Bopath Ella Falls
Named for its bo (Ficus religiosa) tree-like shape, the Bopath Falls is the most extensively researched waterfall in Sri Lanka. Its source is the Kuruganga River, which joins the Kaluganga River at Kurugaomaodara.
The average temperature in the area is between 26.9 and 27.8 degrees Celsius, with an annual rainfall of 5080mm in the falls' catchment area. The flow's mean speed is 6 cubic meters per second. The upper section of the falls is comprised of granite and biotite virin, and is covered in sand. The water from the falls irrigates the paddy fields of the Udakada and Kuruwita areas.
