Mihindu Seya
In 1936, the Archaeological Department preserved the stupa's remaining pieces. In 1951, all of the base's debris was removed. One of the relatively few stupas in Sri Lanka whose relic chamber has been explored by archaeologists is Mihindu Seya.
Arahat Mahinda, according to Mahavamsa, passed away in Mihintale at the age of sixty. On the king's command, the revered missionary's body was carried to Anuradhapura, where his final rites were performed inside a stupa. Each monastery received a share of the remains, which were divided in half, and further memorial stupas were built for them. Chetiyapabbata or Mihintale is the only other secondary burial site that the Great Chronicle specifically names.
