Kantaka Chethiya
The Mihintale's primary draw, the Kantaka Chaithya, may be reached through two different staircases. Due to its age and preservation, it is unquestionably one of the most amazing stupas in the Buddhist world.
According to legend, Kantaka Chaithya was initially constructed by King Suratissa in the third century, and later additions and embellishments were made. According to the Mahavamsa Chronicle, Lanja Tissa (119–09 B.C.) ordered the construction of the stupa and had a stone mantling fashioned for it.
