There is a magnificent example of the amazing hydraulic engineering abilities that ancient Sri Lankans possessed hidden in a peaceful woodland among hundreds of ruins. This amazing irrigation system includes both natural and man-made ponds and streams. There are several ponds and swimming holes in the unusual environment, but Naga Pokuna, Sinhala Pokuna, and Kalu Diya Pokuna stand out as particularly noteworthy.
