Kanniya Hot Water Wells
According to a notice board put up by the Pradeshiya Saba, this well dates back to the time of King Ravana, who ruled the country over 5000 years ago. However, it is now widely accepted that these wells belonged to a great Buddhist monastery that spanned a vast area. The Elamisation of the North and East has destroyed most of the Buddhist remains in these areas, and only a few have escaped the wrath of the Eelamists who have been erasing all signs of ancient Buddhist civilization in these areas for the last 30-40 years.
