Dutch Horse Stables

The horse stables, located beyond the footprint site, were historically used to breed horses by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British. The horses were then sold to passing ships or transported to the mainland for use. While the building itself no longer stands, its pillars and walls still exist, serving as a reminder of its function.

Continuing further into the island, travelers will come across a group of wild horses, which are larger than ponies but smaller than average horses. It's a remarkable sight to see around 500 of these wild beasts roaming free in their natural habitat. The locals believe that these horses are descendants of those released by the Dutch, making them an important part of the island's heritage.

It's heartening to know that the government has enacted laws to protect these magnificent creatures from being removed from the island.
