Ancient Stupa

Near the northwestern coast of Delft Island, there are remnants of three ancient stupas that have been partially restored by the archaeological department. Among these, the largest stupa has a diameter of 13.54 meters and a circumference of 31.93 meters. The stones used to pave this stupa have three inscriptions, which have been discovered and studied. Based on scientific analysis of the inscriptions, it has been determined that the two Tamil inscriptions date back to the 14th and 15th centuries, while the inscription with Brahmi script is believed to be from the 1st or 2nd century, according to calligraphists.
