Dutch Fort - Delft
Access to the fort was through a passage located next to the Old Dutch Hospital, a well-preserved building that showcases the construction skills of the Portuguese, Dutch, and British. The hospital, like much of the island, is made of coral and limestone, and its construction methods raise questions about modern-day techniques.
The fort and many other parts of the island are surrounded by a four-metre-high coral wall, built without mortar to bind each stone but nonetheless sturdy and resilient.
