Bathalegala Rock (Bible Rock)

Bible Rock, also known as Bathalegala, is a mountainous landmark in Sri Lanka rising 2,618 feet above sea level. Its appearance resembles an open book when viewed from the Kandy Road, which was built by the British during their period of rule. The rock has been a source of inspiration for painters, poets, and photographers over time. It is located along the Kadugannawa Pass and is a distinguishing feature of the area's scenery. Bible Rock is accessible through the scenic Hathgampola Road and is surrounded by rubber trees at its base. A hike to the top is possible, and there are accounts of such an adventure in W.T. Keble's book, 'Ceylon Beaten Track', from the early 19th century.
