Ambuluwawa Biodiversity Complex
Millions of years ago, Sri Lanka was part of the Indian peninsula and connected to Godwanaland. However, it later became an island separated from the mainland. According to the Rama-Ravana legend, the Talaimannar strait was where Hanuma built a bridge to connect Sri Lanka with South India. This geographical connection allowed for the rich exchange of flora and fauna between the two regions.
