Statue of Bodhisattva

Located at a slightly elevated ground in the center of the Dalada Maluwa, this statue is missing its arms and its identity is uncertain. Some speculate that it might be a statue of King Nissanka Malla (1187-1196), while others believe it could be a representation of a bodhisattva. In Buddhism, a bodhisattva is either an enlightened being who postpones their own nirvana to help others or a heroic-minded individual who strives towards enlightenment.
