Point Padro Lighthouse

The Point Pedro Lighthouse was built in 1900 and renewed in 1916 and is situated at the Northern-most point of Sri Lanka. The white masonry tower is 105 feet tall and the light source was a 50 Litre AGA
type open Acetylene flame powered by 2 x 3 bank cylinders of dissolved Acetylene. The lens was a Catadioptric fixed lens of the 4th order with a light characteristic of one white flash every 5 seconds.
This lighthouse too was discontinued on 1st September, 1939, during the world war II and was re-exhibited on 16th January 1945 after the end of the war.
