Devil’s Staircase

The Devil's Staircase trail is a highly sought-after hiking and jeep track in Sri Lanka's mountainous terrain, renowned for its challenging terrain and breathtaking vistas. This 13 km trail is a paradise for seasoned hikers, with Bambarakanda Rest near Banbarakanda Ella Falls being the preferred starting point for most.

The trail runs through old, dilapidated estate roads and several estates, with no markers along the way. As a result, first-time hikers are advised to hire a guide to avoid getting lost, as there are many forks in the trail that could lead them astray. The journey takes roughly 4 hours by vehicle, and it is recommended to use a vehicle with good off-road capabilities and tires.
