Toppigala Heritage Park
Thoppigala, formerly known as Baron’s Cap during the pre-independence era, is located amidst naturally landscaped lush paddy fields, bordered by natural and man-made waterways. After years of being inaccessible due to LTTE activities, the war heroes toiled day and night to deliver Thoppigala from the hands of the terrorists. Now, with the opening of the Thoppigala Monument, untrodden roads welcome travelers from all over the world. The "Thoppigala Heritage Park," a project of the Sri Lanka Army Eastern Command and Dilmah Conservation, has helped create a united Sri Lanka while providing visitors a chance to experience the area's natural beauty.
The Thoppigala Monument, regarded as the largest in Sri Lanka, was ceremoniously opened by Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and vested with the nation on April 18.
