The Black Fort - fort galle
The Portuguese dubbed this area, today known as "Kalu Kotuwa," "Saint Croose" or "Fortaliza." As is typical of a Portuguese fortress, this Kalu Kotuwa was fitted with numerous battle necessities like as tunnels, underground chambers, closets, and warehouses. On the ground floor, there were facilities for erecting cannons directed at the harbor. The upper story's round façade was linked to the bottom floor by a subterranean corridor tall enough for a soldier to go through.
There are also some soldiers' watch houses here. The rampart's outside wall is composed of coral limestone and is plastered with lime and sand. Klu Kotuwa is the oldest and most powerful remembrance of the Portuguese participation in the construction of this massive structure known as Galle Fort.
