Rumassala hill plays a significant role in a mythical story involving Rama and Ravana from the Indian epic Ramayana. When Rama's brother Lakshman was severely injured in battle, Hanuman, the Monkey God, was tasked with finding herbs from the Himalayas to save his life. While searching for the herbs, Hanuman forgot their names and broke off a chunk of the mountain where they grew. Once the essential herbs were extracted, he discarded the chunk of the mountain, which fell to the ground and was named Rumassala, meaning "Beautiful Rock." Interestingly, its current name, "Buona Vista," echoes the original meaning, as it implies "Beautiful Sight."
